PS I Love You – “Leftovers (ft. Diamond Rings)

Word arrived today that PS I Love You (who made my #11 album of 2010) are already hard at work on the follow-up to that album, and they’re giving away a new single which may or may not appear on the forthcoming LP.  “Leftovers” is a collaboration with their friend John O’Regan aka Diamond Rings (who I recently penned some love for) and it’s a serious keeper.  O’Regan’s dry, Bowie-esque vocals work remarkably well over PS I Love You’s Pacific NW rumble which kinda makes me want to hear him knock out some scrappier material on his own.  As it is, “Leftovers” plays like a collision of late ’90s Modest Mouse and Built To Spill – a very, very good thing.

Leftovers 7″ is due 2/22 via Paperbag.
