Glasser – “Home”

Like Kate Bush and Björk, Cameron Mesirow a.k.a. Glasser is a one-woman army.  Accordingly, her lush musical stew requires an inordinate amount of descriptors: electro-tribal-folk-pop-whatthefuckever.  Her tunes may be tricky to classify, but they’re easy to love.  For all its clever arrangements, Glasser’s debut LP, Ring, is waist-deep in earworm melodies and soaring vocal lines.  Ms. Mesirow’s voice is the not-so-secret weapon here.  Its rich, gossamer tones recall the Deheza sisters from School of Seven Bells.  Built on a looping xylophone melody and hand-claps, “Home” could accurately be described as “dream-pop,” but you’ll never mistake this for a Beach House jam.

Ring is out 9/28 on True Panther.
