Glitter Bones: Returning The Magic

The lovely people over at Self-Titled Mag brought Glitter Bones to my attention a couple weeks ago.  S-T’s assessment of this Chicago-based duo hit the bullseye pretty hard: “reminds us of a sloppier M83, or a more melodic Fuck Buttons.”  They also remind me of Blind Man’s Colour, but, oddly enough, not so much Animal Collective.  It’s heartening to hear something relatively “weird” coming out of Chicago (my old stomping ground).  I love Wilco and all, but the Chicago scene has felt like an endless procession of Americana retreads for several years now.  Anywho, Glitter Bones’ spacey, electro-psych has been hitting all my sweet spots – kinda like cotton candy dipped in LSD.  Oh, and they’re real sweethearts too: their new 4 track EP, Returning The Magic, is available for free “in your choice of 320k mp3, FLAC, or just about any other format you could possibly desire.”  My current fave track, “Glow In The Dark”, does indeed sound like a gauzy, fluffier version of Fuck Buttons.
