LCD Soundsystem – “Drunk Girls”

The title of the first single from LCD Soundsystem’s forthcoming third album, This Is Happening, is a bit misleading.  The titular “drunk girls” is actually a reference to James Murphy and his male cohorts: “the song is about drunk people and fun things and the fact that all of the boys of the L.A. mansion we recorded at were called ‘the girls’ by our chef. We were the ladies of the mansion.”  Speaking of gender-bending, “Drunk Girls” is an unabashed homage to early ’70s Eno – specifically the flamboyant art-rock of Here Come The Warm Jets.

This Is Happening is out 5/18 on DFA.
